Javier Arana (1905-1975) is widely recognized as the leading Spanish designer golf courses. His designs are common in major European rankings and some of his works , such as El Saler , is considered among the best courses in the world. Despite his magnificent legacy , his figure is still little known to most fans: over a lifetime of golf, Arana had time to excel in all its facets : amateur champion, captain of the national team , international referee , greenkeeper and founder of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation. This set of experiences for fifty years shaped a tremendously particularly design philosophy that has allowed his work to continue into the future without losing interest . This book attempts to reclaim his life story to assert its role as a key figure in the development of golf in Spain and provide an understanding of a unique and unrepeatable work, which continues to attract golfers from all over the world.
