New Territories «Laboratories for Design, Craft and Art in Latin America»

A visual and comprehensive survey of the various aspects
of contemporary design and its interactions with craft and
art in Latin America.
· New Territories explores collaborations between
small manufacturing operations and artists, designers
and craftspersons, demonstrating how the resulting
work addresses issues of commodification, production,
urbanization, displacement and sustainability.
· It is organized around various cities in Latin America, and
the dominant themes and issues being pursued by more
than 100 artists, designers/design studios and artisans in
regions including Brazil, Cuba, Panama, Colombia, Mexico,
El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Chile.
· Richly illustrated scholarly essays by critics, curators,
and art historians Regine Basha, Adela Borges, Marcella
Echevarría, Antonio Sánchez Gómez, Magdalena
Gruneisen, Adriana Kertzer, Ana Elena Mallet, Nessi Pope
