British and Irish Writers in the Spanish Periodical Press (19001965)

This volume represents an exhaustive bibliographical guide, outlining references to British and Irish writers and their works in the Spanish press from the late nineteenth century up to the early nineteen-sixties. As such it seeks to provide a detailed, objective study of what aspects of English Literature were of interest in Spain before English Studies became a University discipline in the country. All state-wide newspapers and journals are covered, as are the most representative publications from the autonomous regions, especially Galicia, Catalonia and the Basque Country. Notable Commonwealth writers of the period are also included. The aim of the work is to supply researchers with a useful tool to help uncover references to specific writers and literary schools which would otherwise have remained hidden in a variety of national and regional libraries.
