Illustrating the use of meta-analysis in many real-world trial examples, this work focuses on the analysis and modeling of a meta-analysis with individually pooled data (MAIPD). It explores alternatives to the profile likelihood method, including approximated likelihood and multilevel models, and shows how the nonparametric profile maximum likelihood estimator can be computed via the EM algorithm with a gradient function update. The authors explain how to test for and determine the amount of heterogeneity in an MAIPD. They also highlight the application of the software program CAMAP for analyzing an MAIPD and offer the software for free online.

This book summarizes the qualitative theory of differential equations with or without delays, collecting recent oscillation studies important to applications and further developments in mathematics, physics, engineering, and biology. The authors address oscillatory and nonoscillatory properties of first-order delay and neutral delay differential equations, second-order delay and ordinary differential equations, higher-order delay differential equations, and systems of nonlinear differential equations. The final chapter explores key aspects of the oscillation of dynamic equations on time scales-a new and innovative theory that accomodates differential and difference equations simultaneously.

As the first book written solely on the subject of nuclear batteries and their potential to revolutionize the electronics industry, this text will appeal to a broad audience, from engineers to energy policy makers. This collection of contributions from leading U.S. and Russian nuclear researchers contains diverse discussions of the problems of using radioactive material for microelectronic power needs, and it guides readers to future research in the area of long-life, high energy-density batteries. It describes the state of interdisciplinary research in radiochemistry, tritium storage, semiconductor fabrication, integration into MEMS and other electronic devices, and much more.

Computer Assisted Analysis of Mixtures summarizes developments in the field over the last 20 years. Along with advancements in theory and algorithms, it explores developments in biometric applications, such as meta-analysis, disease mapping, fertility studies, estimation of prevalence under clustering, and estimation of the distribution of survival times under interval-censoring. The approach is nonparametric for the mixing distribution, including leaving the number of components of the mixing distribution unknown. The text is particularly valuable to statisticians working with pharmaceutical clinical trials, epidemiologists, and social scientists.
